More than 20 Years ago the Lord gave Pastor Shuffel Peter Hepburn Sr. the name Jeshurun/Jesurun. Upon researching it he discovered that it Is a poetic name for Israel meaning “the upright one.” However, Pastor Hepburn had no idea why the Lord had referred him to that name. Sometime later, he decided to give the name to a Bible Study and outreach ministry that the Lord led him to in a most unusual way.Jeshurun Ministry became very active in soul winning’ counseling, feeding the needy throughout the Grand Bahama Community, and continued the weekly Bible Study. A weekly Prayer Meeting started sometime during or after 2011.
One day in 2007 Pastor Hepburn went to see his friend at the Carpenter shop to witness to him. He discovered to his dismay that his business partner was ill with cancer. He promised to visit him at his home and pray with him. He delayed this visit for a week or two, and discovered to his dismay that the business partner had died before he was able to make the visit. No doubt Pastor Hepburn was upset at himself for the missed opportunity.
Pastor Hepburn had a friend who had been incarcerated and had gotten his life back together, however, he was unsaved. This friend was now a carpenter, and had formed a business partnership with another individual.
The Lord took that time to prompt pastor Hepburn to start a weekly Bible Study. He first went to his friend at the Carpenter shop, and told him of his plan. He said that if his friend was the only one to attend, he would still hold the Bible Study. He vowed that he would not allow the friend to get away without committing his life to Jesus Christ. The friend agreed to come to the weekly study and was the first one to arrive at the first meeting. He gave his heart to the Lord Jesus at the very first meeting.
Pastor Hepburn’s friend died of a massive heart attack seven years later in 2014 on the same day as his business partner according to his spouse. Three ambulances showed up at his home, they worked on him feverishly but to no avail.
At 11:45 PM on January 21, 2019, the Lord told pastor Hepburn to “preach the gospel, trouble is coming to the earth”. He would repeat these instructions to Pastor Hepburn ‘ad infinitum’ on the night of the encounter. On May 31, 2019, while attending a local convention at the church he attended, the Lord spoke to Pastor Hepburn telling him that it was his last day at that church. Pastor Hepburn spoke to his pastor and promptly resigned. The next week he began making plans to begin Sunday Services at Jeshurun Ministry.

In September of 2019 the Island of Grand Bahama was struck by a violent hurricane named Dorian which took the lives of more than three hundred Bahamians, and one thousand or more undocumented Haitians. Later that same year COVID19 came upon the world. These disasters have made it a challenge to build a ministry, but Jeshurun Ministry has continued to advance the Kingdom of God.
In 2020 the ministry set a goal of winning 1000 souls by taking a team on the streets three times a week. The goal was accomplished in a year and seven months.
Jeshurun Ministry now produces a weekly sermon that is featured on YouTube, Facebook and various WhatsApp broadcasts groups.
Pastor Hepburn says it is easy to fulfill the mandate given him by the Lord because God’s instructions to him were so simple and clear, ‘Preached the gospel, trouble is coming to the earth.’
Pastor Hepburn is looking for more ways to get the gospel out to the world in these troubled times.
